Last Year:

Avon (CT) beat RHAM (CT) by half a point in what many see as a controversial ending:

Rham was deducted points for a wrestler being on the mat with his singlet straps down.

This Year:

The Raptors from RHAM (CT) are ready to contend again for a title—and are going to make sure to keep the singlet all the way on this year. Berlin (CT), Foran (CT), and Branford (CT), however, look to be some very tough competitors.

This Year:

No. 2 Xavier (CT) looks to run away with this tournament again. However, it is worth noting that New Milford (CT) beat out star-studded No. 4 Newtown (CT) for an SWC title. Expect to see those two along with No. 17 Simsbury (CT) battling for second place.

No. 4 Sam Montovanni (East Hartford, CT)

No. 13 Aethan Munden (Trumbull, CT)

285:

No. 6 Kenota Crawford (Enfield, CT)

Last Year:

Was it Danbury (CT) that topped the podium last year? East Hartford (CT)? Did Fairfield Warde (CT) come away with the State LL title in 2023? Nope. Trumbull (CT) won the crown, and the Eagles did it with no champions, two silver medalists, and six other wrestlers on the podium.

This Year:

No. 8 East Hartford (CT), No. 13 Southington (CT), and No. 24 Danbury (CT) are the only ranked teams in the field. Ridgefield (CT), an honorable mention, could pose a threat as could Fairfield Warde (CT). And most certainly you cannot count out the host—Trumbull.

This Year:

The same competitors look to be in the race this year, and No. 16 Massabesic (ME) and No. 22 Noble (ME) may very well find themselves in a race for first again.

285:

No. 8 Anton Kravchuk (Fryeburg Academy, ME)

No. 19 Nate Malloy (Wells, ME)

Last Year:

Wells (ME) blew everyone out of the water scoring 181 points. It wasn’t even close. The next three teams’ totals added together barely go over Wells’ final score: Belfast (ME) 63.5, Mattanawcook (ME) 62, Oceanside (ME) 59.

This Year:

Wells (ME) is the clear favorite again. The only real battle here is for second place.

No. 13 Brady Bekenhuis (Arlington, MA)

No. 20 Brian Waller-Reitiano (Central Catholic, MA)

Last Year:

This is definitely the toughest division/class in New England. If your team wins the MIAA D1 State Tournament, you're in good shape to do well at the All-States and New Englands.

St. John’s Prep (MA) won the event in 2023, beating out Natick (MA), Shawsheen Tech (MA), Central Catholic (MA), and Chelmsford (MA) who round out the top five.

This Year:

With seven top 25 teams and two honorable mentions, this year’s tournament is STACKED and promises exciting matchups. No. 3 Haverhill (MA) is the highest-ranked team entering the event, but you cannot count out any team here. No. 5 Shawsheen Tech (MA), No. 9 St. John’s Prep (MA), and No. 12 Central Catholic (MA) may be the biggest contenders. The loss of previously ranked No. 3 (150) Xaedyn Natal hurts No. 10 Monty Tech’s chances to place in the top five.

Last Year:

Another tough Massachusetts tournament, Milford (MA) came away with the victory in 2023. Minnechuag (MA) was second, Bridgewater-Raynham (MA) and Sharon (MA) followed.

This Year:

No. 14 Milford (MA) is the favorite to repeat. No. 20 Billerica (MA) and No. 21 Milton (MA) have spoilery thoughts on their minds, and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the teams do behind their No. 1 ranked wrestlers. Keep an eye on Sharon (MA) as well.

No. 20 Spencer Sierra (Timberlane, NH)

285:

No. 16 Evan Ray (Keene)

Last Year:

New Hampshire’s toughest division is always an eventful tournament. It was the Salem (NH)  Blue Devils who won the event last year beating out Timberlane (NH), Londonderry (NH), Concord (NH) and Bedford (NH)

This Year:

No. 11 Bedford (NH) may be the highest ranked team but the depth of Salem (NH) and Timberlane (NH) may be enough to topple the bulldogs, however this is a stronger team than last year’s even with the loss of 2023 NHIAA state champ Peter Rincan to Massachusetts. Concord (NH) also looks to put on a show.
