We saw a battle of 1 vs. 2 over the weekend. No. 1 Sara McLaughlin (Choate, CT), nationally ranked No. 26 in the country, defended her title against No. 2 Chloe Ross (Scituate, RI) in the finals of the St. Paul’s Tournament. Ross scored the first takedown and rode out McLaughlin the first period, but Mclaughlin’s pressure on top worked Ross to her back and she got the pin while trailing 3-0 to the freshman. No. 6 Tasha Boharded (Phillips-Andover, MA) took third at St. Paul’s losing to McLaughlin in the quarterfinals.
No. 3 Mia Dineen (Hingham, MA) last wrestled at this weight class in the offseason after competing at 107lbs last season, and No. 4 Lina Rodriguez (Norwalk, CT) is set to compete at the same weight she won bronze in at last year.
