Lance Bordeleau, a 2025 New England Runner-Up, has announced via instagram that he will transfer to prep school Northfield Mount Hermon for the 2025-26 season.
Bordeleau, an NHSCA Junior 7th place finisher had a stellar season going 42-2 in New England, winning an NHIAA DI state title and an NHIAA Meet of Champion title—along with making the finals of the New England Tournament.
It was actually Bordeleau who kicked things off by reaching out to the Northfield Mount Hermon coach.
“I went up to the coach at the Journeymen Tournament after wrestling one of their wrestlers,” Bordeleau said “We exchanged information and stayed in contact over the season.” Bordeleau said.

Even though he was the one to make the first move, Bordeleau still wasn’t sure if he wanted to make the move. He hadn't given prep much thought, going up to the coach, in fact, was a spur-of-the moment decision.
“I hadn't originally thought about prep; it was more of a last-second decision,” Bordeleau added “It was a tough decision to either stay public with Pinkerton or go prep with NMH. It came down to which one is better for my goals, and, in that case, I had to pick NMH.”
As a Pinkerton Academy Astro, Bordeleau failed to make New Englands at 138lbs in 2023-24 but dropped down in weight in 2024-25 and had a breakout season. The Granite State product looks to potentially move back up in weight, but he is ready to help the Hoggers lineup wherever he is needed.
“I do see myself moving up a weight class or two just because I want my body to grow and get bigger overall,” he said.
Nevertheless, Bordeleau is mindful that he doesn’t have the final say.
“In the end it is the coach's decision on what he wants me to do, and I'm going to listen to what he thinks is best for me.”
Northfield Mount Hermon finished the year placing 6th at the Prep Nationals tournament and is ranked 39th in the country according to nationally renowned media source MatScouts. Bordeleau, naturally, is excited to be a part of one of the best rooms in the country.
“It is nice to be surrounded by high-level athletes not just at tournaments but in your wrestling room,” Bordeleau told the Schwartz Report. “I like having competition and working hard with a good group of people. It will also be nice to have a team I know can win big duals and matches [with].”
Not only a good wrestling school, Northfield Mount Hermon his high on the academics list and boasts an acceptance rate less than half that of the national average of other prep boarding schools. Living away from home and the workload of academics and athletics can weigh on one’s conscience, but Bordeleau is never one to shy away from a challenge
“I plan on balancing work and school by making sure I get the help I need. I know it will take a lot of time and dedication, but that's part of what I love,” the future Hogger said. “I don't like easy things, so having this task in front of me excites me, and I'm ready to do whatever it takes to get it done.”
