It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are upon us and the biggest wrestling tournament in New England is back. The George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament is known as the toughest tournament in the region, maybe even rivaling the postseason championship itself.
With more than 80 teams last year and day one wrestling going from Friday 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. Saturday, the organizers have made some. The most important? A 60-team cap has been placed on the boys division and the event now features a girls division.

Team Race Boys:
Five points. That’s all that separated = No. 3 Newtown (CT) from No. 2 Haverhill (MA) last year. Newtown became the first ever Connecticut team to win the tournament. It’ll be a little harder to repeat for the Nighthawks who have lost a few key guys from last year’s team while No. 2 Haverhill (MA) and No. 5 Shawsheen Tech (MA) have reloaded.
With six regionally ranked wrestlers each, No. 8 Milford (MA) and No. 9 Central Catholic (MA) are top threats to take it all as well.No. 10 Scituate (RI) will need big days from Baker, Newton, and Cole if they are to make the top three.. And No. 16 Fairfield Warde (CT) may have the depth to make the top five this year after finishing in sixth place last year.

Storylines to Follow
The Tildsley Brothers
We are really witnessing history. Sidney and James Tildsley may be the best brothers we have ever seen in New England. The Shawsheen Tech duo currently sit at the number one spot in their respective weight classes (144lbs and 150lbs).
The brothers are coming off an MIAA D5 football state championship and look to add two more Lowell titles to their current six. Last year the brothers outscored opponents 68-8 with 10 pins between them, And yes, they both won titles.
First Girl’s Tournament
As the fastest growing high school sport in America, it was only natural for the biggest tournament in the region to add a girls division. With 31 teams competing, this is set to be one of the biggest girls events of the year.
